The Fashion Duo journal: VOGUE's Garden Party

in this journal: Rachel Gilbert's lilac silk-chiffon dress, Marc Jacobs' yellow iris-print crepe de Chine silk shorts, Jacquard ballet flats, Marchesa Embroidered silk-organza dress, Topsy-Turvy Wallpaper

Currently updating myself with vogue.com after a long hiatus (two weeks or so) from the fashion blogging world. I kinda like the web, though usually I click on style.com for up to the moment fashion news update. I stumbled upon Vogue's Most Wanted List and love the feeling of garden party theme and outfit: the soft innocent shades and flowery patterns to celebrate life!
Happy belated Halloween and Happy Sunday, people!

Online Store

As a newbie on Online Shopping business, I've tried to browse as many online shops as possible. Here, I featured several Indonesian Online Stores which I think have passed the borderline and made fashion online stores look so tempting and chic. COTTON.INK posts great catalog pictures which I think it's totally essential for an online store. And their collections are totally edgy and wearable. I love the Summer Light Shawls! BEATNIK has the 'it' accessories, totally creative! WONDERSHOE has the sweetest flats on totally affordable prices! The store is even Paypal verified, so it's accessible for those of you who live outside Indonesia! The website comes in English too!

C'est Galliano

Don't expect John Galliano to put on a standard or mainstream show. He's the mastermind of Dior, so there's no ordinary in the dictionary. However, for me, even though the models have gothic romantic makeup, with stiff weird pose or looks, I'd recommend that you look deeper and to actually see how beautiful the clothes are: the details and creativity behind each item. Now, who wouldn't want to buy those dresses, hats, and shoes??? Even the socks are lovely!!

White

Some designers had pale, white, calm colors on their collection, and they got me. I can't stop browsing through Flickr, looking for pictures that are calm and somehow look foggy. Here we got a potrait illustration from Danny Roberts, from his blog Igor+ Andre; Almost Heaven; Arsenic; and a runway picture from Calvin Klein Spring 2010 Collection.

It's raining here, and it's soooo calm...

Art Work

The title speaks for itself. Vivienne Westwood and Lanvin's Spring 2010 collections are artworks, defined by how they elicit details. Madame Westwood is no stranger for her eccentricity, and Lanvin's dresses are so drapy and shape-centered, you'd probably can't stop asking how they made each item. Look at that chain necklash-slash-choker. Imagine the creativity and hard-work to make such perfect jewelry (yes, it IS a jewelry, it IS beautiful).

Balmain Rock Chic

I honestly think Christophe Decarnin is the best designer Balmain can get. I mean, in this recession, who else would make a girl splurge for a, at least, $ 9,000 jacket???
I mean, if I had that kind of money, I'd say "well, I know it's expensive, but what the hell, it makes me look so chic, anybody --even those who are fashion blind-- would look at me with envy and know that I look awesome, I mean, really really awesome. And I can wear it all the time!"

You literally can breathe in the rock chick in each of the clothes, especially jacket, that Decarnin designed. I swear to God, he's a genius!

Hope in a Jar

Believed to be factual, photographs measured the distance between idealized representations and real faces

"How few of us have a perfect idea how we look, or who we resemble, or look like," photographer H.J Rodgers observed, "we look differently as many mirrors as we may choose to scrutinize."

These are two of my favorite quotes I got from Hope in a Jar: The Making of America's Beauty Culture by Kathy Peiss, one of the books that I'm currently reading. I'm still on chapter 2, because I couldn't help to reread each sentence over and over again. I constantly inspired and intrigued about the history of beauty culture, that we unconsciously have all over the world. I've always been obsessed with the way young women perceive themselves through images offered on TV, magazines, and the fashion world, of course. I don't really see myself as a feminist, but I'd love to observe the phenomenon.

Here I am blabbering about my obsession, haha

Anyhoo, Meisari here is wearing the School Girl Dress from {Lalaland}, and bandage heels from Charles & Keith

Have a good day! Ciao!

Etro Dress

Heyyaaaaaaaaaaa'll!
This is another dress from {Lalaland}. We call this Etro Dress. I don't know why I call it Etro Dress. Sounds urbany-chic, I guess. We love it. It has this kimono kind-of-cutting. Yellow Umbrella Lady was super proud that she designed it. I love the pattern, it's zig-zaggy. Do you know who loves it too? Meisari, our model. She bought the dress right away, after the photoshoot. LOL

Journal: Pop out! Flower Power!!!

Still on the fashion week, from style.com, we got Luella, Erdem, Betsey Johnson, and Fashion Fringe (a designer competition originated from UK), poppin' out the flower and defining the femininity in its favorite shades, pinkish pastel blush, celebrating the spring! Either it's the sassy quirky designs from Betsey Johnson, dark-rebellious yet flowery frown from Fashion Fringe, or Luella and Erdem's rendition of sweetness, I think their Spring 2010 RTW collections are lovely, and if you can hit the price, buy them, for the love of God!!!
